Tonakai (Reindeer in Japanese) is an Original Creation kagune released during Christmas 2023. It takes the appearance of a reindeer and Krampus-like entity. It is the first Christmas/Winter-themed weapon in Ro-Ghoul.
Stages[]
There are 2 stages to Tonakai.
Stage 1[]
Stage 1 is the basic kagune form. The first stage consists of a pair of reindeer like horns that use the secondary color of your kagune, then at the base of the head wraps into a wreathe around the back side of the head from where the horns sprout forth. From the upper-middle back region sprouts a kagune formation of "fur" that reaches up towards users head, meeting up with the half-ring wreathe around the back of the head.
- Passives:
- 1.25x increase to movement speed at the cost of being unable to dash; user's running appearance becomes a gallop
- Improved block; During the first 0.25s of the block, receive a 100% damage reduction

The user begins to charge up, stamping their foot on the ground similar to a buck or bull preparing to charge, during this long charge-up the user receives a reduction to damage and slight immunity to grabs. Upon full windup of the move, the user charges towards their camera in a medium-distance teleport-dash, anything caught within this moves path is heavily damaged and receives a bleed debuff. | ? |
Stage 2[]
The Kakuja form of Tonaki, this stage of the kagune incases the user's entire body, changing them into an appearance similar to a skin-walker or Krampus-like creature. The head of this kakuja has the skull of a deer partially covering it with sharp teeth and sporting a much larger and much more menacing set of antlers, now with two sets from the users new head. Following down the visible spine, there are visible protrusions along the back flanking the spinal cord and the spine itself. On the frontal part is a visible ribcage that protects the chest and somewhat the hips of the users kakuja body. Ending with the legs, the users legs end in hooves and the arms ending in claws, taking a more four legged stance as it trudges around.
The animation of the users absorption is changed to replicate a violent mauling motion while absorbing corpses. Of note, the user gains a slight insanity effect, thus allowing trainer abilities that affect/require insanity to be used. Majority of the moves are usable while moving still.

Swiping upwards in a slashing motion, the user creates an erupting wave of antlers from the ground, inflicting damage to anything caught within its way. The move changes slightly within the domain of ice, inflicting a stun attack that lasts 0.5s alongside the damage already given within this move. This move is interruptible. | 2.0s | |
R | The user drags their clawed hands backwards towards them, upon doing so antlers are creating in a path in front of the user that rise from the ground dragging anything caught-up in its path. This move is interruptible. | 4.5s | |

The user stands up on their hooved feet as it charges up its ability, crossing their arms briefly over their chest before throwing their head back as a large mass of antlers is shot out of the users chest upon the end of the windup of the attack, pushing whatever is caught up in its path away from the user. During this charge, the user gains anti-grab and damage reduction as they perform the attack.
Upon usage within the ice domain, the move changes to instead of pushing, dragging anything caught within its path towards the user instead, similar to the R ability, retracting the antlers back to the user. |

C | The user plants down a kagune mass resembling a Christmas tree, during the duration it is down, this "tree" will chill and freeze the area, inflicting damage upon anything within its domain every 1.5s. Within this icy domain, some of the users abilities are empowered within the domain. From outside the masses domain, is a visible spherical bubble to outline the domains area of influence. This move is interruptible.
NOTE: You do not need to be within the domain to use the empowered abilities! So long as it is active, the empowered moves work. |
