Overview[]

Hello, my name is Ox Rookbane. I'll be writing my review on the rework of Kajiri, an ukaku quinque that is entirely range-based. It is a quinque used by Chuu Hachikawa. You can read more about it on the page.

I can summarize my opinion of the rework in a few words: it sucks.

Pricing[]

The new Kajiri isn't worth your 400,000,000 Yen and resetting your RC Count, nor your $10USD/750 Robux. For an "end-game" quinque with only three Special moves and no passive bonuses. Compared to other options like IXA, 13's Jason, Ginkui, or Kaika, this quinque really lacks in power for its price.

The other issue that arises from its price is the continuing disruption of the tier of quinques. The starting quinques are C-Katana, Eyepatch, and Clipped Wing. Your interquartile is Demon Yamada or Rotten Follow. Your medium is Doujima, Scorpion 1/56, or T-Human. Your other interquartile would be the other options I lsited above (IXA, 13's Jason, etc...), your pinnacle weapons being Narukami or SSS Owl. This issue may not be as prominent with CCG as it is with Ghouls, but it still exists. You're jumping from 500,000 Yen to 5,000,000, then maybe to 20,000,000, then maybe to 56,000,000, maybe 100,000,000, then another jump to a whopping 350,000,000 or 400,000,000, then your final stretch of 500,000,000 with some limitations. Note that you also have to factor in how the other quinques work and the level you'd be at the time to understand how excruciating it is.

Moves[]

While the quinque itself along with its projecitles look aethetically pleasing, I hate to say that it is the most basic "end-game" quinque that could've been made. There's only three Specials-- and only two of them are purely offensive. It should also be mentioned, if you didn't already know, that the quinque is purely ranged based. There isn't a single melee attack anywhere.

When you're looking at your moveset, you're should go in thinking that you only have one special you can use to maneuver: your E move. Forget R and F, they don't matter; your E move is the only move you got that allows you to be combative and on the move. Sure, clicking could work, but it doesn't deal as much damage and doesn't have as much mobility as the E move does. The E move sends you backwards while launching a rather long-ranged projectile which will also launch your target back-- albeit a smaller distance than what you got.

If you're looking at combo potential, the only viable option would be E and F-- if you're in the middle of combat. If you got to engage first and have time to set up (only case would be a boss), you could do R, E, then F. Let me explain how this works:

  1. If applicable, you can set up Shock Pads with the R move and stack a good total of three on an enemy standing still.
  2. Hit the enemy with the E move. This will activate any Shock Pads (if you had any), then send you backwards a good distance while also pushing the enemy back a smaller distance. The total displacement between the two of you will be quite well.
  3. And if the enemy can't dash or isn't fast, you can then hold down your F key and try your best to track them and shoot 'em up. Depending on the speed of your enemy, you probably won't be able to get much damage done with this move.

And... that's about it. That's all I've been able to discover from this quinque. Like I said, it feels very basic.

PVE[]

If you're a high enough level, this quinque doesn't pose a problem to your normal NPCs. You'll be able to kill them in one click if you got enough Focus points pumped into your Quinque stat. When you get to Bosses, however? It's a whole new problem. Let's start with each of the three current bosses we have:

  • Nishiki
    • Because I'm a high level (as you probably are as well due to the nature of this quinque's ranking), Nishiki doesn't pose a problem in general. If I'm honest, the R, E, and F combo is very simple. Once combat starts, you can just repeat E and F. Nishiki will never catch up to you, so you're free to constantly release a flurry of shards and electricity at that stupid boy's face.
  • Amon
    • Amon may require you to use your Arata to ensure you can tank some of his combos. You can set this one up again and use R, E, and F, but once he starts coming, the only move you'll be able to use comfortably is the E move. You'll have to constantly keep moving if you want to fight him alone. If you got a partner with you, your best position is to let them draw his attention while you sit back and hold down your F key.
  • Eto
    • You cannot solo Eto with this quinque and not die. It's just not possible. No matter how well you set it up with your Shock Pads, you cannot keep away from her shards while doing your own damage to her. She's too fast and aggressive to allow you to set up mid-fight and no matter how many times you dash or use your E move, you won't get away. Depending on the location and what you do, a good amount of the times, you may end up dashing out of her range and losing potential damage you could've been doing. You will need a partner for this fight and your best position will most likely be setting up Shock Pads and triggering them while your partner leads Eto into them or sitting in the back and holding down your F key.

While my PVE experience may be flawed, this is what I have come to find so far with it.

PVP[]

Don't. Just. Don't. Even with Arata, you're heavily out-maneuvered while using this quinque and all your moves are obsolete except E. With the popular choices of kagunes/quinques out there, your F move is going to get canceled a lot by almost every opponent you fight because they have at least 1 interrupt or stun move. At least, that's if they have some combative intuition. But, you'll probably find that you actually fare better than you thought you would against most opponents who probably just mash the same set of buttons every time. But theoretically, you're still pretty boned anyways.

The Aesthetic[]

The quinque looks nice overall along with the projectiles. I have to say though that the walking animation looks extremely dorky. I'm glad the SushiWalrus is proud of how the projectiles look even if they are mostly original creations, they do look very appealing to the eye. The mesh and design looks clean and slick which makes it even better.

Conclusion[]

There you have it. There is my opinion of the rework for Kajiri.
